Inspired by trends in society, culture, new technology, fashion and travel destinations; colour company Pantone presented the refreshing PANTONE 19-4052: Classic Blue as its Colour of the Year for 2020.

Defined as "a timeless and enduring blue hue" that's "suggestive of the sky at dusk," — classic blue is a strong visual symbol about fresh starts, stability, confidence and connection. It is elegant in its simplicity… and brings a sense of open mindfulness, peace and tranquillity to the human spirit. Since blue is the colour of the vast and infinite sky, it’s also a colour everyone sees everywhere around the world — a universal hue that transcends global cultures!

What is the Pantone Colour of the Year?

Pantone is a company devoted to what they describe as “colour intelligence”, best known for the provision of professional colour language standards and digital solutions. For 20 years, the company has announced a Colour of the Year every December. In recent years, the colour institute has selected shades based on their “uplifting and life-affirming” qualities. 2020 colour is no different, its choice is inspired by the current climate where technology’s accelerating developments and feelings of instability continue to grip the world today. What is the Pantone Colour of the YearAt this time, many desire a return to trust, authenticity and empathy. The calming, dependable shade of blue feels solid, honest, non-aggressive and easily relatable, making it the perfect antidote to an uncertain milieu.“We are living in a time that requires trust and faith. It is this kind of constancy and confidence that is expressed by PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue, a solid and dependable blue hue we can always rely on”, said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Colour Institute.

Influence on upcoming 2020 design trends

From a practical standpoint, the colour forecast means it will undoubtedly dominate the creative arts space for the coming 365 days. Pantone’s announcement is the ultimate influencer as it will dictate purchasing decisions and product development across a range of industries; from interior design and fashion to industrial design and product packaging.pantone 2020 colour classic blueSourceTurns out, the simple colour (which is darker than aquamarine and lighter than navy tone) is a universal favourite that’s comfortably embraced. It offers so much versatility, which makes it superb at utilising a variety of tonalities, prints and tactile materials (rightfully so, since the texture is having a moment in interior design). And because it’s good old blue, decor in this colour can express tradition and elegance, but can also be bold and edgy.

Incorporating classic blue into your home design

Adding classic blue into your space, either as a statement or an accent, won’t just look great, but will apparently set exactly the vibe you are going for. While the colour might be very specific for some tastes, it can be used in a variety of ways to fit all decor styles; from classical interior spaces and coastal-inspired settings to contemporary home design… after all, who doesn’t love blue!

Make a statement with upholstery

The Pantone Colour of the Year for 2020 impart a sense of luxury. It gives a space a feeling of sophistication and elegance — so what better way to accent your home than with plush upholstery. In the next year, design trends are moving away from traditional, neutral sofas and chairs in favour of more daring colours and fabric choices.soft to touch velvet sofaSourceThink soft-to-touch velvet sofa in this fairly dark, eye-catching shade to enliven your living room. It’s sure to set an inviting tone while adding textures and just the right punch of visual interest. Bold classic blue upholstery keeps grey fresh and pairs effortlessly well with walnut and white oak.

Add interest with decorative accents

For accents that really pack a punch, look no further than end tables, decorative vases, cushions and throws, floral arrangements and even touches of blue in lighting and artwork. Classic blue is rich, so small amounts stand on their own without overwhelming a space.pantone classic blue furniture decorSimply choose a handful of small-to-medium sized accents, space them strategically throughout your home, and pair with complementary hues such as pastels, cool greys, bright white, gold or cognac.

Paint an eye-catching accent wall

For a bolder addition of the colour, pull out the paintbrush. Bold accent walls add personality, character and most importantly, a focal point; making this slightly darker shade of blue perfect for making a statement and completely energising a room.Marble Topped Pedestal Coffee Table from West ElmSourceBecause classic blue transcends periods and styles, it looks good in just about any space — in a formal living room as it does in a coastal-inspired bathroom or a contemporary kitchen design.

Spruce up kitchen cabinets

Rejuvenate your kitchen aesthetics by using colour on your lower and upper cabinets. Classic blue-toned cabinets are all the rage and are a stunning way to breathe new life into an all-white kitchen space. Blue cabinets feel sophisticated paired with marble counters, striking backsplashes in detailed tiles, and gold accents for a playful edge.Classic blue toned cabinetsSource

Pull together an open-concept space

Sometimes you don’t need to redo your entire home with a new colour to create a perfect vibe. One way to incorporate a burst of colour is to dress your floors with a good quality area rug. This allows you to tie the whole room together with the Colour of the Year in an understated, decorative way.dress your floors with a good quality area rug

Keep it stylish in the bathroom

Finding blue in a classic bathroom is probably not a surprise. Yes, even this serene and rejuvenating space can benefit from a touch of classic blue when the rest of the room is a little neutral and soft on the eyes. It goes everywhere… adding cosy and depth especially in compact bathroom spaces — from contemporary vanities to detailed wall tiles and classic fixtures.Keep it stylish in the bathroomSource

Design meets Wellness: A Guide to Creating the Perfect Home Gym

Nothing beats the convenience of being able to work out in the comfort and privacy of your own home. The thought of driving in traffic, being in a space that’s too hot or too cold, or wondering if you’ll have access to your favourite gym equipment means that it can be easy to fall short of gym-attendance goals.

Designing your own gym allows you to set up the type of space that can be created to a bespoke design. It’s possible to blend form and function with great aesthetics — after all, if you’re going to sweat, it might as well be in the company of utterly beautiful workout space.Below, you will find all of the guidelines to help you to create your home fitness space while maintaining the design integrity you desire.

Space consideration

What part of your home will you dedicate to your workout room? First things first, make sure to have a designated spot for your gym. This is the best way to ensure that you will actually use it on a regular basis.home gym flooring ideasSourceNow, if your home is large enough, then you may be able to utilise a spare room. If floor footage is a concern, then consider any additional space and get creative with what you’ve got. This can include patios, balconies, basements, outdoor areas, and more.

Indoor gym

Setting up an indoor gym gives you the freedom to make it your own. You can pick an area that you feel is most ideal for a good workout and customise it. This could be a spare office space, an attic, or even a spot in a spacious living room. The size of the area dedicated to gym equipment depends on your fitness goals and personal preference.

Basement gym

A basement extension can make the ideal space for a fitness suite. The right flooring, overhead lights and mirrors will aid in keeping the space open and inviting. If you have several rooms, say a bath or kitchen area in the basement, it’s possible to turn the entire space into an efficient workout suite.

Outdoor gym

There is nothing quite like getting outside in the fresh air and sunshine to fully enjoy your fitness routine and improve your mood. Outdoor training has grown increasingly popular within the last years, but how do you design a perfect outdoor fitness spot.outdoor home gym ideasSourceMany homeowners love the idea of an outhouse with lots of glass — and it's tempting to install wall-to-wall glass to let in as much natural light as possible. Rightfully so, as this will offer the most functionality. The combination of exercise and nature is good for both physical and mental well-being.

Garage gym

Garages are just gyms waiting to happen. They’re ideal for weight training and can really be tailored to suit specific needs, goals and performance. The area should be well ventilated and have enough windows to allow both fresh air and natural light in the room otherwise there’s a chance that you will experience great discomfort while training.garage workout room

Layout and space arrangement

When setting up a home gym it’s crucial that you evaluate the layout and functionality of the space. Gym designs, of course, vary hugely depending on individual needs. Making the best use of available space is about considering exactly how design decisions will impact your fitness experience.home workout roomMore importantly, ensure that your space arrangement leaves plenty of room between your equipment, to avoid any damage to it, the decor or yourself while you're working out.

Fitness equipment

Curating a home gym that perfects every detail is the key to a successful design. This means, taking the time to select equipment that you are most likely to use on a consistent basis, especially equipment that’s in line with your fitness goals.home gym equipment ideasSo, if you want to increase your cardio, then a treadmill or a skipping rope will be a great addition. On the other hand, if you want to work on your strength training, you will find that kettle-bells are the way to go. Bear in mind that home gyms don't need to have every piece of equipment under the sun — just a few anchor machines should suffice.

Gym flooring

For one thing, gym flooring acts as a protective layer for floors underneath from the inevitable dropping or slamming of handheld equipment during workouts. Even more importantly, flooring helps cushion bones and muscles during explosive workouts, as well as reduce noise. There are a variety of options to choose from. Do some research and decide what works best for your needs.home gym ideasSourceGym foam or rubber flooring squares that are approximately two inches thick are beneficial for a number of reasons. The squares interlock to instantly attain a professional look, and they can handle weights or workouts you throw at them.

Style and décor

Believe it or not, the decor of your home gym can determine just how motivated you will be. For instance, if you prefer a tranquil atmosphere, a soothing colour palette, a couple of ferns or bamboo plants and crisp clean accents can easily establish a relaxed but focused environment.home gym decorSource

Colour

Colour psychology can have a great impact on energy levels. If you want to make sure that you are amped up for the duration of your workout, opt for a green that is reminiscent of nature or the outdoors. Looking to set farther, more difficult goals? Then purple is the go-to colour to overcome physical challenges and limitations.Want to stay focused instead? In this instance, neutrals such as white or cool grey will be your biggest ally. Consider fiery reds and oranges, which are warm and bring excitement and energy to any space — all good feelings to have when exercising.

Mirrors

Installing mirrors in your gym will lend an illusion of a larger space. It will also make the room seem brighter and open especially in smaller environments. Apart from aesthetics, there is a practical workout reason for installing mirrors in a training room. They'll give you the opportunity to check your form, which can reduce the likelihood of injury.inspiration home gymSource

Energetic visual interest

To have a workout environment that feels inspiring, bright and invigorating can contribute to the result that you’re trying to get at. Stellar views, inspirational visuals or a stylish feature wall will instantly make your space pop.

Lighting

Natural light helps keep you alert and energy levels high, studies reveal. Not to mention, sufficient natural flow of light can create a refreshing ambience for those working out early in the morning.luxury home gymBut if your space isn’t privy to natural illumination, upgrade your artificial lighting to cool but bright white overhead lighting with LED to induce the same energising effects as natural light. You may also want to create a calming atmosphere by installing a dimmer switch to bring down the lighting levels for cool-down routines or low-key workouts such as Yoga or Pilates.

Get started!

Choosing new cardio and free-weights equipment, picking a colour scheme you love and the flooring you deem comfortable can be an exciting process when designing a home gym. However, coming up with a thoughtful design and space arrangement is just as important, all of which an interior design expert team can advise upon.gym at homeWhen working alongside an experienced designer, expect the design process to be collaborative in order to meet your fitness goals. The designer will assist in working around a style that complements your lifestyle, the right fittings that make up the body of the gym, as well as lighting and all finishing touches that bring the entire design together.

Final thoughts

Health is wealth, and with improved fitness technologies offering more options, a steadily increasing number of fit people are choosing to forego membership-based gyms entirely and incorporate a home gym instead. There’s no question that with a successful home gym design, you can enjoy the same fitness experience you would in a commercial fitness centre. Whether you decide to install a gym in the basement, outdoor area or a garage, the right space arrangement, colour palette, flooring, lighting, and equipment all come together to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing scheme.

Designed To Be Fit — Gym and Fitness Centre Interior Design

As awareness on how our environment and lifestyle choices naturally impact our disposition continues to increase, residential fitness facilities are becoming one of the most sought-after services by home buyers.

Corporate offices are incorporating fitness spaces as more and more employees expect companies to care about their whole well-being. Upscale hotels, resorts and country clubs are going a step further with full-scale training hubs to attract fitness-focused travellers looking for a distinctive wellness journey. How do we then use gym interior design to set up a fitness facility that elevates wellness experience and improve people’s quality of life? The thoughtful use of innovative materials and lighting, intelligent layout floor details, the language of colour and elements of biophilic design all work together to maximise the human senses.

Layout floor plan and space zoning

A successful fitness and gym design concept require particular attention with regards to space arrangement. Each space and its users have unique needs; therefore, each design scheme should provide the best possible environment that’s functional, safe and comfortable.Layout floor plan and space zoningSource If the interior space is small, cramped and cluttered, then people feel less comfortable when training. However, that’s not to imply that in order for patrons to enjoy an ultimate fitness experience you need a large facility. At the onset, good space planning can turn a compact space into a comfortable sphere that’s capable of facilitating numerous workouts and accommodate adequate training equipment and storage.gym layoutSourceSimilarly, a pleasant and non-intimidating spacious layout plan that exhibits a strong focus on design and zones is essential to boost the gym’s appeal towards the target demographic. High ceilings, ample circulation and subtle switches from a dense to an open area ensure flexibility within the indoor environment and helps avoid a “boxed-in” feeling.

Colours and décor choices

Today’s gym and fitness centres are more than just rooms of equipment surrounded by plain, concrete walls. Colour psychology plays a significant role in creating an impressive and dynamic setting — the use of fresh, energising hues perfect for high adrenalin zones — and more subtle tones to create a calm and tranquil environment fitting for holistic workouts.workout room colorsSource

Passionate colours

Vibrant colours like red or orange create visual energy that helps clients to power through high-energy and intense workouts. Cardio exercise is also augmented by bright hues in which just a splash of red can increase the heart rate, orange can stimulate the thoughts, while yellow increases the feelings of cheerfulness and enthusiasm.

Cooling colours

Colours such as blue and ocean green can work well to give a cooling effect. They trick the mind to have a cool sense and combats overheating during workouts. They can also evoke the success feeling that motivates gym members to achieve a strong fitness goal.office gym decor ideas

Trusted colours

Simple and neutral colours such as off-white and beige are essential for yoga and meditation rooms. These colours offer a more pleasant and calming experience. They are less distracting and aid focus during workouts. And also, soothing neutral hues make the space much brighter, open and airy.

Flooring solutions

Gym flooring solutions come in a wide range of textures and functionality in which the sky really is the limit — from rubber floor tiles to hardwood gym flooring. It should be a strong, durable surface that supports the different areas to be included, as well as the types of equipment in each zone.fitness center interior designSource

Biophilia and indoor environment quality

Biophilic design is a fundamental concept that respectfully harnesses the restorative, energising properties of mother nature that influence physical health and our emotional state of mind. So where better to implement this nature-inspired approach than in a gym, fitness studio or yoga room where improved wellbeing is the goal?exercise room decorSource Integrating remnants of the great outdoors (abundance of greenery, natural light, organic shapes that mimic nature’s patterns, soothing palette of earthy tones and natural material like wood and stone) into the gym concept from the early stages of design is a powerful key to success in fitness club interior design.designer health studio gymSource

Lighting and ambience

As your gym concept evolves in form and finishes, lighting and ambience should be right at the top to amplifier the overall design and brand aesthetic. To be clear, natural light plays a vital role in ensuring that “feeling good” goes far beyond just an aesthetically pleasing space.modern gym interior designluxury fitness centerIf location makes it impossible to have access to adequate natural light, consider investing in lighting that replicates the same rejuvenating feel and make the interior as inviting as possible.

Good gym design creates a great atmosphere

A professional interior designer makes sure that the atmosphere of the gym and workout facility, yoga retreat or wellness hub is compatible with the end-user. Space should offer a look and feel that makes patrons want to linger well beyond the 30 minutes fitness session.gym designSourceProfessional designers offer project-based services that integrate every piece of interior planning in order to convert an indoor environment into an inclusive fitness haven that evokes health, relaxation and groundedness.

Final thoughts

For the fitness and wellness industry, the role that interior design plays cannot be overstated. As we become more health-conscious, gyms are now being viewed as essential components in our daily life. As such, gym and fitness hubs should pay strong attention to design trends that align closely with the well-being policies of the modern world.A thoughtful gym interior emphasises and supports the many strands of environmental and human ethics, as well as the global pursuit of good health and happiness. Additionally, wellness-driven design strategies that implement the correct use of space, lighting, colour schemes and material selection, not only maximise user-satisfaction, but also ensure a greater turnaround on customer attraction and, ultimately, long-term retention.

Understanding the True Essence of Luxury Interior Design? The term luxury belongs to those evanescent words such as happiness, beauty, style; with a hard to comprehend nature and even more difficult to define…

So many times reading design journals and magazines you would have noticed expressions like “luxury lifestyle”, “luxury living” and “luxury homes”. But what exactly do they denote?

What are the indispensable attributes of luxury interior design?

Real luxury living cannot ever truly be given a specific definition. It’s a natural process that sets about as a seed deep within the soul and blossoms through our everyday lifestyle choices. However, there are a few common characteristics shared by luxe spaces. Let’s unpack the true essence of luxury interiors.

Envisioning the whole

High-end interior design is more than arranging chandeliers and tufted settees to somebody else’s preconceived pattern of symmetry. It is about bringing forth the real diamond that shines within us all — authenticity… The authentic design is a canvas for creativity, inspiration, and exploration — and all three are the context and the story that forms the real footing in the art of luxury interiors.modern luxury interiorsThe depth of detail is what pushes design boundaries further to the sources of authenticity. Hence “customised design” has the magic power in both luxurious residential and commercial interiors that are created according to the client’s needs and taste; from tailored furniture and art to custom flooring and window treatments, etc.A high-end interior designer listens to a client’s vision and translates that into a one-of-a-kind look where every aspect perfectly fits together to create a brilliant end product. Ready-made furniture pieces and upholstery can be a luxury, but to truly enjoy a “perfect fit” design, the custom is the heart of luxe interior aesthetic.

Comfort is key

The gift of luxury means living in a state of comfort and convenience; where your interior environment and the systems that make it function smoothly, serve you, the user. It should feel warm, inviting, and unique in its characteristics — and at the same time invoke an emotion of extreme well-being.luxury interior decorThe quality of early luxurious interiors and objects were once marked by opulence and extravagance, but today we look to design to not only fill us with a sense of pride and accomplishment; but rather, lend a feeling of being alive, nurtured and comfortable.

More about experience

Imagine an art collector, a pilot and avid chef in one room, each of these people will have different priorities and will imagine a perfect luxurious environment differently…There isn’t a one-fits-all solution — this is especially prominent in the hi-end sector where people want to embrace their passions and adjust the interior design to suit their lifestyle.modern luxury interior designOne person will love the idea of plush interior leather upholstery throughout the living room, but the other will experience luxury by having a spa-centre in a modern bathroom surrounded by huge expanses of glass. For some people, a dining experience under a huge aquarium makes them feel indulgent and happy…What remains consistent and perhaps the most important experience — the one when you walk into the room and instantly feel relaxed. When luxury interior design is rooted in the cohesive combination of shapes, colours, textures and proportions — it always feels right and greatly enhances an experience in which all the human senses are engaged.

Complementary to every style

Luxury interior design can offer inspiration and bring personality to various design styles. Whether your taste is timeless classical, ultra-modern or tends to veer more towards contemporary minimalism of Scandinavian aesthetic, there are ways to ensure a luxe feel with the help of sophisticated materials and decadent detailing.luxury designSourceAlthough the luxury interiors can be rather opulent, it is never overstated and balance is easily created to ensure it melds seamlessly into other aesthetics for a refined and comfortable finish. For instance, luxury can very much be inspired by traditional aesthetics. Meaning, a traditionally styled living space can feature elegant and classic wall murals, a stunning boiserie wall decor, heavy swag curtains or detailed upholstery on the settee. So, whether you’re looking to dazzle and impress with the finest materials such as the softest silk and leather linings, or introduce sophisticated accent touches that span from understated elegance to elaborate exuberance even in the most compact space, luxury interior detailing can make all the difference in your current design setting.

Less is beautiful

Consistently perfecting modern luxury interior design means creating a space that’s thoughtfully designed but not ostentatious. It’s an art of restricting yourself to using only the most necessary elements despite having a big budget. A lot of modern luxury interior designers fall into the trap of specifying the most expensive, over-designed products and materials, simply because they can.luxury interiorsSourceThis is true when it comes to furniture and pretty much everything else. Clutter is anathema in high-end design and excess is rarely better. It can be distracting and instantly instil a sense of chaos and disorderliness. A high-end design feels curated and every element should feel like it always belonged there.

Natural materials and sustainability

One of the essential stages of the luxury interior design process is selecting the colours, textures and materials that are inviting and feel fabulous. All materials and fabrics should add to the overall character of the space and convey a sense of rarity without seeming pretentious.contemporary luxury interior designToday, combining different finishes and materials that are great for our surrounding environment has become a very rewarding way of creating stylish interiors — stone and metal, organic fabric and wood as examples. Eco-friendly materials add a unique character with a layer of authentic importance.Think, sumptuous velvet, airy feathers, grainy earthy reclaimed-wood, shiny metal appeal and the sensual allure of high-quality leather. Various textures help to create a feeling of depth, visual weight and dimension to any design and evoke the many layers of exclusiveness. Professional interior designers no longer debate about the idea of consolidating luxury and sustainability: luxury is already becoming environmentally conscious.

Consistency in design from room to room

A well-executed luxury interior design plan demonstrates balance and unity being in perfect harmony throughout an entire space. Each design element complements each other and flows effortlessly to avoid a collection of unrelated rooms.luxury interior designThat’s not to say the colour palette should stay exactly the same in order to establish more of that consistency. Rather, a refined design plan has unifying elements such as line, repetition, shape and rhythm that carry through the entire indoor environment, varied slightly in each room to adhere to its specific function and purpose. The principle of visual continuity takes an expert’s eye to achieve.

Luxury interior design is a treat that can be enjoyed at any scale.

luxury interiorHere are simple ways to add luxe to your residential or commercial space:

Light up the living space with eye-catching modern fixtures. For extra oomph, use multiple layered lighting at differing heights and zones to up your room’s cosy level.Look to metallic finishes to create a marvellous atmosphere that absolutely feels right for your space. Pair different metal accents in gold, brass and chrome to bring a lavish sheen to your interior scheme.Illuminate special features. If you’re going to go to the lengths of great luxury interior design, then every standout architectural feature or décor piece should have its own moment in the spotlight. This could be anything from a sleek modern staircase design to an opulent art piece on a stunning feature wall. When choosing a rooms colour palette, sophisticated neutrals such as grey form the perfect backdrop; then introduce a rug in deep colour, plush cushions and accent furniture to create drama. Incorporate ambient lighting to lift and enrich the overall look.Instead of focusing on colour alone, highlight texture to add depth and turn your overall scheme into a visual delight. An intricate wall feature, textured soft furnishings or flooring can all add just the right visual appeal.

luxurious interior design ideasSource

Made to measure curtains are a must. Don’t let window drapes fall short if you want to achieve a luxury finish that exudes glamour and elegance; let the fabric “pool” a little at the floor for an abundant lavish look.Luxury isn’t only about how aesthetically pleasing the room is, but about comfort too. Create an intimate furniture arrangement. Everyone feels cosy perching on sumptuous sofas and comfy occasional chairs that are positioned in a way that encourages social interaction. When considering furniture and decorative accents, choose quality larger pieces that fill the space properly and make the whole design feel more indulgent, rather than a cluster of smaller cheaper items.Build a true focal point around something that’s completely unique to your space. This could be a gallery of ornate framed mirrors to add decadence and shine, a display of things that actually mean something to you on some unique wall shelves or a double-sided fireplace in a long room. Then, light it up to ensure your focal takes centre stage.

Conclusion

Luxury interior design is a creative process led by experienced interior designers. It relates very closely to the client’s unique way of life and puts experiences first. It embraces the true joy of living and the beauty of the surrounding nature or vibrant city landscape. At every stage of the design process, every element is crucial; from a functional layout to the final decor touches. The modern luxury design explores new ideas, pays close attention to every detail and carefully considers materials and finishes. To make the concept of “luxury” strong, the overall design should be well-executed without losing authenticity — and should reflect the user’s personal needs and taste, improve their quality of life and the experience of their interior environment.

A mixture of polished stone and wood makes up the majority of the interior. But the highlight of this industrial beauty is the art on display made explicitly around the concept of viticulture.Everything celebrates the magnificence of wine - from the custom bowls to the decor created from recovered wine barrels.

2. Industrial Kitchen Studio

Image via Giuseppe BurgioGiuseppe Burgio intended his design to be a dual workspace. He turns an industrial kitchen into two worlds - a rustic kitchen and an airy, well-lit studio.Space can be utilized for workshops and in-house sessions. It can even be turned into a coffee shop with an open kitchen - talk about the possibilities!

3. Rooftop Bar in Sukabumi, Indonesia

Image via Brian Karno JanDesigned by Brian Karno Jan for Dlux Interior Jakarta, the rooftop bar is located in a hotel in Sukabumi, Indonesia. Comprising of brick walls and wooden floorboards, the bar is set to become one of the hippest pit stops in the Sukabumi area.It aims to attract a young, vibrant crowd and to foster a sense of community. Patrons can enjoy the open al fresco bar area on the rooftop for a quiet drink or a lively party.

4. Yelp

Image via Studio O+AAfter Yelp moved from its small location in San Francisco to a tower in the financial district, the company commissioned Studio O+A to design its brand new office. The idea was to create a cohesive workspace tied to a common goal: to build creative and dynamic interaction within the company. This proved to be a challenge for Studio O+A, so they placed communal destinations that appeal to staff on all floors. There’s a fully-functional coffee shop on the 8th floor, a break room with seating on the 5th and recreational areas with semi-private pods on the 11th.

5. The Little General Espresso Bar

Image via Clelia Dal ColA charming cafe in Sydney Inner West, Clelia Dal Col designed this quaint hole-in-the-wall coffee shop as one entity when in fact, it started as two adjoined commercial spaces. With its industrial shell, the Little General Espresso Bar shows it has a natural affinity for raw materials. The exposed ceiling beams make you feel like you’ve walked into a warehouse rather than a cafe.In spite of the stark elements like concrete and steel, the introduction of warm wood and exposed brickwork create a beautiful, cozy space.

6. RetroSuperFuture

Banking on simplicity and user-brand experience, RetroSuperFuture’s LA store is another innovative brainchild of Savvy Studio.Images via Savvy StudioThe optical store’s main theme revolves around simple materials, clean lines, vegetation, and a monochromatic palette. These elements were chosen so that the products could be tested. To give each customer the ability to try the lenses on with some privacy, Savvy Studio also introduced eye-level mirrors for each display unit. By keeping it basic, RetroSuperFuture emphasizes that their story and prestige are on their lenses and that the buying decision is much easier when there’s nothing to look at but the product.

We are always looking to incorporate the latest interior design trends into our projects.  Each year we see remarkable progress in the design world with new and exciting directions; from materials to finishes, colors and everything in between. While home décor trends aren’t as fickle as fashion, they do surface and encourage us to be bigger risk-takers; exposing us to what’s possible, what looks fun and how best to personalize our interior spaces. If you’re on a hunt for new design cues to stylishly refresh your nest, we’ve rounded up few 2019 interior design trends that offer serious inspiration to get you started.

Artisanal and organic material

organic materialhttps://deringhall.comWith all eyes on sustainability and eco-minded design, perhaps it’s no surprise that this makes it to the top of our list. The use of sustainable pieces and natural fabrics is very fitting for the times — they vibe with a range of interior aesthetics while giving your home some much-needed character and charm without being overwhelming: from coastal to boho, Scandi to rustic and every style in between. The visual airiness of handmade upholstered furniture designs, rugs, throw cushions and tapestries reference both the natural, as well as the intrinsically textural throughout the home this season.More importantly, organic materials: hemp, wicker, sisal, jute, wool, and rattan evoke a relaxed and calm feel born out of the primal need to be connected to the earth and its roots.

Biophilic design as a necessity

interior landscape designhttps://dwigallery.comWellness and nature work hand-in-hand in creating environments that have a positive impact on human health and well-being.If you’ve had your eyes on architectural and design trends, you may be aware of how biophilic design has gained momentum in recent year. In 2019, the push for wellness interior design continues to grow.Biophilia emphasizes improving the quality of life by changing the indoor environment and implementing the responsible design into our interior settings.Bringing in more plant life and natural materials like reclaimed wood, and having access to natural lighting and improved air quality are some of the critical contributors to boosting human health and well-being.

Rich and vibrant color palettes

Vibrant Furniture Colorshttps://www.swoonworthy.co.ukGo bold or go home! It goes without saying that this year’s design trends are feeling braver and edgier with more vibrant color palettes and copious patterns; from statement pinks to striking indigo, rich yellows to dramatic reds.Expect to see house interiors dipped in deliciously inviting hues throughout the home — on wallpapers, hardware, backsplashes, luxury furniture, and décor accessories.Bold and vibrant tones can be both powerful and terrifying at the same time. To get it right without overwhelming your space, keep a tight edit and visual balance between bright and muted shades.

Big, bold floral prints

Bold Floral Printshttps://www.homedecoraz.com/From intriguing wallpapers to soft furnishings and beyond, floral prints are here to breathe new life and artistry into our living spaces.Florals are already in full bloom everywhere, and these aren’t your ordinary grandma prints; they’re bigger, bolder and more abstract, and yet romantic, lush and whimsical at the same time.Large prints of peonies and lilacs in exaggerated proportions and refreshing palettes of red, coral, mustard and emerald are strongly in vogue and indeed make an eye-catching décor statement that’s hard to ignore.

Rich, velvet furnishings

Luxury Velvet SeatingSumptuously seductive and opulent, velvet has been growing in popularity, leading many designers to believe it will be this year’s most sought-after fabric.Think of an impression a stunning velvet sofa would have on your guests, or how beautifully velvet pillows would contrast with other textural fabrics like wool and linen. These are some of the most covetable ways to incorporate this real and luscious material into your interior décor scheme.

Black is the new black

Kitchen Designhttp://justhomeit.com/White and bright spaces have had their moment in the past few years, but 2019 brings with it a striking, intense contrast.Black is back and it’s back with a bang: dramatic, innovative, modern and stylishly sleek. Whether it’s a statement feature wall or charcoal-hued kitchen cabinets and inky hardware, this dark hue makes everything come alive and brings instant intrigue and allure to any room’s décor.Bring in colors that pop such as jewel-tones against a darker background, or pair with metallic accents in gold for an elegant and powerful interior finish.

The industrial interior design celebrates the raw and utilitarian skeleton of a building. This style came about naturally as unused warehouse districts close to commercial hubs were being converted into necessary residential spaces.Without trying to conceal the services and building materials, industrial interiors boast exposed brickwork, raw wood, pipes, ducts, cables, and concrete. The look has become very trendy and often comprises large open-plan spaces, high ceilings and large steel windows that complement a modern or eclectic interior.

Very Vintage

Idell Food DesignBuilding elements that are traditionally considered an eyesore, an industrial design enthusiast will find appealing. The style lends itself to a beautiful vintage look comprised of second-hand finds and industrial furniture.Old commercial or restaurant kitchen equipment is a great way of bringing the style into the kitchen, complemented by raw wood counters and concrete floors.

Exposed Services

Live Inside The PhotoDucts, pipes, exposed brick, cement, and concrete are key elements of industrial design. The style is notable for its “as is” look - the kind that most people will conceal behind polished walls. While the look seems to be unfinished, it is essential to ensure that especially cement, brick, and concrete surfaces are sealed to prevent a constant layer of dust in the space.

Simplicity

April LookForm follows function is an excellent description of this style. Since its first focus is on the structure and not on beauty, the result tends to be a minimalist, fuss-free space.Simple lines and uncluttered surfaces work very well with the style and create a beautiful and modern space. Complete the look with large high bay lighting or photographic studio floor lamps.

High Ceilings

Live Inside The PhotoBecause industrial buildings tend to have high ceilings to keep the spaces cool, they make up an essential element of the style.Buildings such as old clock towers, firehouses, and old retail warehouses are a great canvas to start with. Not only do the high ceilings contribute to better ventilation, but because they tend to go hand-in-hand with large windows, they allow for a natural light-filled space. To prevent the area from being cold and to add an extra floor area, a mezzanine level is a very popular addition.

Open Floor Plans

CozyliciousThe original requirements of an industrial building are very different from that of residential space and often consists of large open areas without any internal partitioning. To create separate rooms, other industrial elements are often applied: steel and glass panels, brick walls and concrete structures as well as steel and wood staircases.Industrial interior design lets itself speak without attempting to say too much.Every flaw is integrated into the interior and the furnishings allowed to soften what could be seen as a rigid design. This beautiful contrast between hard construction elements and softer furnishings is what makes this style so unique.Follow my blog with Bloglovin

5 easy ways to recognize luxury interior design

When it comes to luxury interior design, it’s often a case of “you know it when you see it”. Walking into a retail store, you intuitively know the value of the products that are sold there. In the same way, a restaurant with a certain look and feel will give you an idea of the prices on the menu. But luxury cannot be defined by price tag alone, so how to define high end or luxury interior design then?Haute couture and its counterpart in the culinary world, haute cuisine seems to be easier to pinpoint than high-end interiors. To shed some light on the subject, here are 5 characteristics that we believe capture the essence of luxury interior design. 1. PERSONALHome BunchCreating a personally tailored space is what drives high-end design. Clients usually have a specific set of ideas and it is the designer’s responsibility to take those ideas and craft a unique interior for them.Combine those ideas with the client’s lifestyle or the brand’s essence as well as the capabilities of space, and you already have a lot of information to work with.History often also plays a big part here, whether it’s a brand heritage or a family’s traditions. All these factors will give the designer a starting point to work from and will provide a guide for the project. 2. ATTENTION TO DETAILDesign ChaserIn a beautifully designed space, nothing is left to chance. From the smallest light switch to the biggest focal piece, everything is carefully considered as part of the whole. Accessories, furniture, artwork, choice of materials and how they’re finished should be envisioned holistically when an interior is planned.Especially lighting has an important role to play in the look and feel of a room: it isn’t only functional, it also creates mood, ambiance and directs the eye where the designer wants it to go. 3. SUPERIOR MATERIALSHabitually ChicNatural stone and wood, and natural fibers like leather, wool, and linen have always had a high-end quality to them. Marble has been reserved for the wealthy for millennia and is still an incredibly durable and beautiful material to use. With an emphasis on sustainability, natural hardwoods are a great choice for interiors and the myriad of properties of natural fibers make them a desirable choice. That being said, new technology has brought us composite stone with durability that cannot be matched in its natural state. Some manufactured wood-like materials have inherent properties that are almost impossible to achieve with natural wood. And the durability and maintenance of artificial fabrics like vinyl and micro-suede that features nylon and acrylic, have revolutionized the industry. So while natural is not necessarily the best option for every application, there are always superior and innovative materials for the job.

"A great design will engage the user’s senses and make them experience the space through the selection of materials, by integrating landscape and natural surroundings, by working with both natural light and artificial light and with a focus on artwork and other features."

 4. LONGEVITYTempo Da DelicadezaWhether the style is contemporary, modern, classic, retro or traditional: if the pieces are curated and made with the best possible materials and craftsmanship, it will have a long lifespan. When a building is designed and the finishes were chosen, it is done with decades or even centuries in mind. The same cannot be said of furniture – there is a fashion and transient element to most furniture pieces. But a good, solid item should be able to last a couple of generations beyond its fashionability, and quality finishes a decade or 2 at least. 5. EXPERIENTIAL DESIGNPiercy & CoThe best designs are experienced, not only observed. Whether an interior evokes an emotion or encourages you to take part in it, great interior design compels you to do something, touch something or actively look at something.A well-designed living room will invite you to sit down and relax, instead of making you feel like you’re in a showroom.A great restaurant compels you to take a seat and take in your surroundings, touch the table and chairs, feel the ambiance in the room. Many restaurants have open-plan kitchens for exactly this reason: so that the diners can experience the making and presentation of their food before they eat it.And a highly-rated hotel room should guide you to the bed and make you want to lie down on it.Luxury interior design is not only a price point, but it’s also a holistic approach to design that involves all the senses.Contact us to discuss your unique design requirements with us so that we may create the ultimate space for you.

It has always been a pure art form that accentuates form and function into a perfectly aligned symbiosis.Regarding trends, I would say there are two current themes that have been brought to the forefront of the Milan show.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text bb_tab_container="" css=".vc_custom_1554740993126{margin-bottom: 20px !important;}"]On one hand, processes by EDRA, ACTIU, CAIMI, and BOSS design acoustic solutions with a strong synthesis of shapes through their use of high-quality materials.Any innovative material or imaginative way of mixing colors and textures tend to add to the movements. These days there really are not any boundaries. Which I guess, in a way, is a boundary onto itself. In the other hand, luxury and high-quality work by FENDI, EICHHOLTZ, BOFFI, ROBERTO CAVALLI, MINOTTI, and HENGE focused more on the detail and produced distinctively unique products. There was a predominance of blue and purple touches in velvets, glossies, brass effects and lacquers. Curved, generous and feminine lines were combined with timeless materials such as bronze and ceramics, to add to the innovative approached.Near the Louis Vuitton exhibit, the London-based studio Raw Edge presented a series of folding furniture and lighting that captivated the audience. These were created by the husband and wife duo, Yael Mer and Shay Alkala. One of their magnificent designs has also been nominated for the Design Museum’s 2015 Design of the Year award. Not only should the interiors of the hotel engage and interact with the client; so should the exterior and its surroundings. At times, a hotel’s grounds are open to retreats, meetings and tour groups; there’s an opportunity for hotels to garner potential clients with the use of the exterior spaces.Having meticulous grounds can create a viewing experience of transcendental designs — incorporating buildings, interiors and gardens simultaneously can cause potential clients to remember how wonderful their first experience was at such a location and encourage them to return for another visit. This is where real innovative hotel design comes in.From my point of view, Mirabello’s work considers materials and trends as an extension of our designs. We have taken what we saw during our visit and infused it into our styles and concepts to ensure our clients receive the most innovative and unique concepts.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=".vc_custom_1554740153382{margin-top: 40px !important;}" bb_tab_container=""][vc_column][mkdf_single_image enable_image_shadow="no" image="6559" image_size="full" bb_tab_container=""][vc_column_text]One aspect I found intriguing, was the different views of “HOTEL GUEST ROOMS” in European design; I find it differs marginally from the Middle Eastern design and concepts. In Europe, rooms are based on the experience of the client.Designers build a setting that clients comment on. What a client wants is what they get. Functionality and creativity often blend in European designs, as history has shown. However, in the Middle East, this does not happen. Rooms tend to be of a much more standardized approach and the designs do not allow the opportunity for blending functionality with innovation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

We get to know some pretty personal things about our clients: personal needs, corporate needs; likes and dislikes, etc.So when you’re looking at an interior space make sure you keep in mind what your client wants to express in that space and make sure it is something you both come to share a vision on.
