The Milan design show

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]There was a lively atmosphere underway at this year’s Milan Design Week.It was apparent that the age of art deco, impressive ergonomic designs, and captivating lighting caught viewers attention.Much like the city itself, the Milan Furniture show reveals flashes of beauty and luxury set amongst acres of beautifully decorative interior space.For over 50 years it has grown from a modest showcase of Italian manufacturing prowess into a city-wide celebration of design, with hundreds of thousands of international visitors.It is where great designs are showcased to the world and the new generation of designers promote their best works, hoping to be discovered.This year’s fair had insatiable energy and vigor, even while many brands looked to the past for inspiration.Personally, our team loves the Art Deco influences coming out of Milan. It has always been a pure art form that accentuates form and function into a perfectly aligned symbiosis.Regarding trends, I would say there are two current themes that have been brought to the forefront of the Milan show.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text bb_tab_container="" css=".vc_custom_1554740993126{margin-bottom: 20px !important;}"]On one hand, processes by EDRA, ACTIU, CAIMI, and BOSS design acoustic solutions with a strong synthesis of shapes through their use of high-quality materials.Any innovative material or imaginative way of mixing colors and textures tend to add to the movements. These days there really are not any boundaries. Which I guess, in a way, is a boundary onto itself.In the other hand, luxury and high-quality work by FENDI, EICHHOLTZ, BOFFI, ROBERTO CAVALLI, MINOTTI, and HENGE focused more on the detail and produced distinctively unique products.There was a predominance of blue and purple touches in velvets, glossies, brass effects and lacquers. Curved, generous and feminine lines were combined with timeless materials such as bronze and ceramics, to add to the innovative approached.Near the Louis Vuitton exhibit, the London-based studio Raw Edge presented a series of folding furniture and lighting that captivated the audience. These were created by the husband and wife duo, Yael Mer and Shay Alkala.One of their magnificent designs has also been nominated for the Design Museum’s 2015 Design of the Year award. Truly the wife and husband dynamic duo were show stoppers at this year’s Milan event.In short, this year’s event was a true pleasure and showcased some truly unique designs and talents.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

The easy solution: use a few mirrors and have them reflect the light to help build evenly distributed lighting throughout your interior space.Mirror, mirror, on the wall … With so many shapes, sizes, and styles, mirrors are a versatile decorative element that gives instant polish to a room with little effort.They can do wonders! Eye of the beholder: a quick look at abstract art in design

As to what that merit represents is another question.However, bold statements and unique perspectives have driven our art appreciation and culture for centuries. So isn’t it about time that interior designs evolve to those standards?The second school of thought is that the art should reflect its surroundings by harmonizing with the colors of the space you are designing, to provide a cohesive environment. In short, art should sit where it’s placed as the place should equally fit the art it houses.Now, this does not dictate that all art should match its surroundings, but rather “fit” and/or complement its surroundings.For example, in the image below you will see an industrial space that we had worked on. On the wall, a motorcycle. Now as far as art pieces go, it may not hold its own against Picasso.However, the analogous color scheme and symmetry it produces in the space create a bold statement. Bold patterns are a very popular interior design trend at the moment.
